I love to use the Chapter Summary sheet throughout a novel study and have students summarize EVERY chapter. It is amazing how much better they get at summarizing with so much practice! You can do this in partners and then as they gain more confidence, on their own. Choose a ‘winning’ summary to put on the bulletin board.
